Grade Level Options
The Lions Quest commitment to quality preparation is
based on the proven premise that programs for youth
are most successful when comprehensive, program-specific
training is provided. Workshop
attendance is required for all adults who wish to
use Lions Quest K-12 core curricula. Conducted by
Lions Quest-certified professional trainers, the workshop
provides a complete orientation of the curriculum, teaching
tips and practice in classroom implementation.
Our programs are offered in the following three age
groups:
Grades K-5: Skills for Growing
The Lions Quest Skills for Growing comprehensive
curriculum brings school staff, families, communities,
and children together in a unified initiative that integrates
character education, social and emotional learning,
drug and bullying prevention, and service-learning.
Through a series of thematic teaching units, the program
will help create a classroom environment that nurtures
and enhances learning. Skills for Growing workshop
participants will be prepared to:
- Develop a safe, cooperative, participatory learning
environment
- Teach skills that support conflict resolution, resisting
negative peer pressure, and celebrating diversity
- Facilitate service-learning projects
- Engage parents and community members as partners
in education
Grades 6-8: Skills for Adolescence
Lions Quest Skills for Adolescence is a comprehensive
life skills and prevention program for middle school
youth that builds important social and emotional competencies
by promoting self-awareness, self-management, social
awareness, relationship skills, responsible decision
making and service-learning. Interactive, student-focused
lessons, unit activities and energizers are implemented
with flexible stand-alone or integrated options of nine
weeks to three years. The Skills for Adolescence
workshop provides program leaders with a solid understanding
of the young adolescent, hands-on experience with the
curriculum, and an opportunity to explore implementation
models. Participants will be prepared to:
- Teach skills for successful young adolescent development
- Nurture academic success
- Facilitate service-learning projects to foster civic
engagement and responsibility
- Establish a successful school climate committee
Grades 9-12: Skills for
Action
Skills for Action is the high school component
of Lions Quest programs. The innovative and flexible
curriculum moves beyond the classroom to foster civic
responsibility and build essential social, emotional,
academic and workplace skills. Community and school-based
service-learning experiences provide students with the
knowledge and essential life skills to make positive
contributions at home, at school, in the community,
and in the workplace. Included in the curriculum is
the Skills Bank, a supplement or stand-alone program
that teaches and reinforces 26 skill sets in four categories:
cultural awareness, interpersonal communication, personal
management and responsibility, and study and writing
skills. The Skills for Action workshop will prepare
educators for program implementation and renew their
professional enthusiasm, creativity and energy. Participants
will be prepared to:
- Incorporate service-learning as an educational methodology
into the core curriculum
- Teach essential social, emotional, academic and
workplace competencies
- Instill personal and social responsibility, and
respect for self and others
- Cultivate appreciation for social and ethnic diversity
