Skills for Growing
Five thematic units are repeated in each grade level, K-5,
with age-appropriate skills introduced. Each unit begins with
an introductory activity and includes three to seven lessons.
Sample lessons are provided below.
*The "Setting Goals for Service"
lesson plan is an introductory excerpt from that unit, which
is a guide that provides a more detailed description on how
to plan and develop a project in the classroom.
Skills for Adolescence
Program consists of 102 sequential, skill-building lessons.
The 45-minute lessons are arranged into eight units. To promote
school-wide involvement, each unit also provides "Expanding
Unit Themes in the School and Community" and "Applications
Across the Curriculum" activities. The student book,
Changes and Challenges, provides information, activities,
articles and worksheets to help students understand the curriculum
concepts and apply them to their own lives. Tests are included
with each unit to help assess student learning. Sample lessons
are provided below.
Skills for Action
The core curriculum is divided into four parts and the Skills
Bank includes 26 skill sets. The Educator's Manual includes
step-by-step instructions for conducting program sessions
and includes teacher resource sheets, student handouts, and
assessment tools for each session. The number of class periods
that may be required to teach each session is clearly indicated.
