SEL research continues to demonstrate that the development of SEL competencies in school predicts a variety of later outcomes, such as participation in postsecondary education, success in the workforce, civic engagement, and personal well-being.
SEL research indicate that on average, every dollar invested in SEL programming yields $11 in long-term benefits. These benefits include reduced juvenile crime, higher lifetime earnings. SEL research also shows SEL is associated with a positive impact on important mental health variables that increase children’s attachment to school and motivation to learn and reduce risky behaviors.
